Acclaimed actor Jonah Hill makes his directorial debut with this beautifully observed film, set in the heart of the 1990s and focused on the skateboarding scene of Los Angeles.
At the center of the story is Stevie, a 13-year-old boy growing up with an emotionally distant mother and an unbearable older brother.
His life begins to change when he becomes involved with an older group of skaters, discovering skateboarding, friendship, and the raw energy of urban street culture.
Shot gorgeously on 16mm film and guided by sensitive direction, Hill crafts a moving coming-of-age journey about a young boy in search of identity, constantly testing his social boundaries, while meticulously recreating the spirit of the era through a rich soundtrack featuring original music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross alongside tracks by Nirvana, Seal, Cypress Hill, and many others.
